About

Hi, I’m Elsy Merino. Life at the Crossroads is where I write down what I have learned about standing at the places where a life turns, the ones you see coming and the ones you only recognize afterward.

I have lived through a fair number of these crossroads by now: the job I almost did not take, the move that changed everything, the years spent raising a family, the slow unlearning of things I was so sure of when I was young. Somewhere along the way I got in the habit of sitting with a cup of coffee in the morning and writing it all down, partly to make sense of it myself, and partly because I have come to believe most of us are quietly wrestling with the same handful of questions.

This site covers all of that ground: the turning points, the small everyday choices that quietly add up, the different seasons a life moves through, work and what it is actually for, the people who make the hard parts easier, honest looking back, slow mornings, and a plain relationship with money and enough.

I am not a therapist, a financial advisor, or anyone with special credentials. I am just someone who has been at a few crossroads and is willing to talk about them plainly, without dressing them up.
